Necromunda:

New Year...  Goals revisited.  What would January be without the yearly attempt to create content for a Blog.  in years past, I've sworn to create the content an post it...  then quit it and forget it...  This time around..  no promises.   So here goes.

Return to my War-Gaming roots.

Back in the day, when I was newly married, newly employed, and poor as can be, some friends of mine lured me into a basement willed with wooden tables, harsh light, and Games Workshop miniatures.  It was glorious.
Initially I agreed to join them in a few games of Necromunda.

See, I knew these guys were bat shit crazy and I had heard they all played and obsessed over the much larger games;  Warhammer 40k and Warhammer Fantasy Battle...  heck I had played the RPG: Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay with them previously and loved it.
I was no war gamer though.  I didn't have the money or the time - or so I thought.

I bought a box set of miniatures; the Escher Gang, and showed up for a ten hour day of learning and playing through several games.

I was hooked.  Tactical movement, line of site and game to game group management had me jonesin' for more the following week.  I enjoyed several months of playing the original Necromunda back in 1995-96

Yes...  My firends' Master Plan worked like a charm and Necromunda became a gateway drug for me...  within the year I had spent several hundred dollars on a combination Warhammer 40K / Fantasy Chaos army. (by the way, the picture below only represents approximately what I had in quantity...  my stuff was never painted that completely.)

Regrets

I only bought a couple of "Gangs" back in the 90's and even after falling out of regular gaming groups, or eventually migrating toward board games, I always regretted not owning more of this game.   In subsequent years I was able to find and purchase the original sets...   hoping to one day find a group willing to play a long dead classic.

Re-Release 2017-18
For years Games workshop had fostered rumors that Necromunda would come back, and after the financial circus the company endured in 2016-17, in November of 2017, we were blessed with:

Re-released and better than ever...  though there are changes...

Commitment

Stay tuned as work my way through painting all of what this game has to offer today.  (This time around I am buying it all.)
